State Farm Tournament of Champions

The 6th Annual State Farm Tournament of Champions has come and gone - but the players and teams of this past event will continue to carry on!  Here is a current look at some of the ToC's impressive alumni!

NEWS and TIDBITS

Three 2011 State ToC teams won their respective state championships this March!  Indianapolis Park Tudor won the Indiana 2A state title with a 79-57 win over Gary Bowman.  Montgomery Carver won the 5A state title in Alabama with a 61-56 victory over Hazel Green and Trent InternationalE won the Texas Independent state championship!

Proviso East finished the season with a 32-1 record and a 2nd place finish in the Illinois 4A state tournament.  The Pirates and Huntington Prep (28-2) will both finish the season rated as two of the top 20 teams in America!  Other top finishers include: Tilton School (27-7), who finished in 2nd place in the New England Prep School finals, St. Louis Imagine Prep (23-9) who finished in 4th place in Missouri's 4A class and Chesterfield Marquette (20-12) who finished in 4th place in Missouri's 5A state finals.

The Washington Panthers (26-6) had a terrific season, as did Sunrise Christian Academy (25-4) who finished the season rated as the 8th best Prep School in America!

Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell of Park Tudor was named to the 2012 McDonald's All-America team!  Meanwhile 6'11" Sr. Nerlens Noel of Tilton School has been reclassified as a senior and is now ranked as the #1 player in the 2012 class!  Noel has narrowed his final three collegiate choices to Kentucky, Syracuse and Georgetown.

6'7" So. Andrew Wiggins (West Virigina), 5'11" Sr. Yogi Ferrell (Indiana) and 6'3" Sr. Craig Sword (Alabama) were named Gatorade Players of the Year for their states.

IN COLLEGE HOOPS

6'10" Fr. Anthony Davis of Kentucky is one of the finalists for College Basketball's Player of the Year award!  Davis averaged 15 points, 10 rebounds a game and is currently the nation's leading shot blocker with 5-blocks per outing.

28 former ToC players participated in this year's NCAA Tournament.  Anthony Davis (Kentucky), Rakeem Christmas (Syracuse), Quincy Miller (Baylor), Matt Roth (Indiana), Daniel Moore (Indiana), D.J. Cooper (Ohio), Junior Cadougan (Marquette), Reggie Bullock (North Carolina) and John Henson (North Carolina) lead their teams to the Sweet Sixteen.

OTHER NOTES

NBA players on fire include - Tristan Thompson of Cleveland who scored a career high 27 points in a win over Boston.  Jerryd Bayless is averaging 16 points a game as a starting guard for the Raptors and Chandler Parsons recorded 25 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists in a recent win by the Houston Rockets.
